Capacity building refers to activities that improve an organization’s ability to achieve its mission or a person’s ability do his or her job more effectively. For organizations, capacity building may relate to almost any aspect of its work—from leadership and administration to program development and implementation.
Strengthening an organizational infrastructure can help agencies and community-based organizations more quickly identify targeted audiences for health literacy development, or can ensure workers are adequately trained to answer questions from the public.
