Instructional Designer Project Manager 1

PURPOSE: To analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate high-quality health and safety communications e-learning and training materials, utilizing traditional as well as modern approaches. Seek out new applications and expand understanding of learning application to meet customer needs and to mentor team members. To coordinate and direct activities of project teams that design and develop Web, CD-ROM, DVD, and mobile based learning products. Works with subject-matter experts and classroom instructors to convert training programs over to Web-delivered platforms.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Analyzes client needs, designs new instructional modules and applications, including performance support systems, training products, self-study web-based, webinar-based and mobile learning.

 

  • Communicates and coordinates with clients regarding project materials design as well as project scope and requirements, status, milestone achievement, planning, and other administrative matters.

 

  • Coordinates project activities, assigns tasks to project staff, and mentors project staff.

 

  • Evaluates instructional materials, courses, programs and performance support systems.

 

  • Consults within the organization regarding instructional technologies design and development of training outreach materials.

 

  • Prepares administrative materials (project monthly reports, status reports, etc.)

 

  • Prepares, develops, and maintains project budgets.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIREMENTS: Master's or other graduate degree in related area: Instructional Design, Adult Education, Curriculum Development or related discipline required with four - six years experience. Four years equivalent experience may substitute for Master's degree. Must have skills to assess customer and trainee needs, design and develop appropriate health and safety training and systems, and to evaluate those products. Must have knowledge of instructional design and multimedia technology-based learning design. Must be able to converse with clients and target audience. Must be able to conduct ideation sessions with clients and staff to recommend technology-based learning solutions, explain the pros/cons and challenges of those ideas, and convert the most viable solution into a structured course/training design. Specific experience needed in: 1) recognizing and responding to customer needs; 2) designing training/communication materials; 3) interfacing with customers and other personnel involved in projects; 4) reporting progress to customers; tracking project activities and costs; 5) coordinating personnel, resources and activities to complete tasks; 6) meeting scheduled deadlines and budget requirements; 7) problem-solving in an environment where quick response is needed. Working with a group, generate and solicit ideas for appropriate design for training or communication materials. Lead discussion to decide on specific approach, make recommendation to Section Manager and client, and build project plan and budget on those factors.
